Trooping the Colour 2017

Trooping the Colour Parade 2017

Last Saturday 17th of June, the Nation celebrated The Queen’s official birthday and the Sapphire Anniversary of her Reign with Trooping the Colour Horseguards Parade.

It was the 65th Trooping the Colour Parade for The Queen who attended in a carriage rather than riding, which she did till 1987. The custom of Trooping the Colour dates back to the time of Charles II, back in the 17th century.

This event, which takes place in June every year, gives always an opportunity to show splendour and glamour as the military salute the sovereign. The Windsors were all out on display and support to The Queen as well.

The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh

The Queen travelled with the Duke of Edinburgh in a carriage down the Mall. Prince Philip was not wearing his military dress uniform but a morning dress which was decorated with all his numerous medals.

HM was wearing a lovely icy blue outfit - I love the fact that the dress was matching her colour eyes - by Stewart Previn and a hat by the late Philip Somerville, all complemented by pearl earrings, a three row pearl necklace and the beautiful diamonds Brigade of Guard Brooch.

The Queen wearing the Guard Brooch

The Guard Brooch features the badges of the five Household regiments: the Coldstream Guards, the Grenadier Guards, the Irish Guards, the Scots Guards and the Welsh Guards.

The stunning diamond brooch, surmounted - of course - by a crown, was apparently made from a pendant given to the Queen's aunt, Princess Mary, in 1922.

Even though brooches are considered a traditional and - almost - old fashion piece of jewellery, can be very versatile and elegant. They can easily complement any outfit, either for day or evening wear. Brooches are one of my favourite pieces of jewellery, I own few which I usually wear on coats and jackets quite regularly.

The display of exquisite jewellery didn't end with The Queen. The Duchess of Cornwall, the Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince Harry were on the next carriage.

Camilla in her usual clover brooches

Camilla was wearing an off-white outfit accessorised by her usual diamond and pearl earrings, and her diamond-encrusted clover brooches.

Kate wearing dandling diamond earrings

Kate in a hot pink dress and hat, by Alexander McQueen, adorned with some major sparkle diamond earrings, on loan from The Queen.

This pair of diamond pendant earrings includes a pendant of separate stones hanging within a diamond frame.

They first appeared at the 2012 State Opening of Parliament, but have no publicly known provenance as of yet.

I personally think that this pair of earrings are more of an evening jewellery however, they are making the whole outfit as they are the only piece of jewellery Kate is wearing.

Here's the whole family up on the balcony! Nearly fifty family members celebrating The Queen birthday.

Long live The Queen!
