Chinese New Year 2017 The Year of the Rooster!

Today, Saturday 28th Jan 2017, is the beginning of the Chinese New Year - the Year of the Rooster also known as the Spring Festival. The Chinese, like many other cultures, are following the lunar calendar hence the date of the new year changes from year to year.

Every Chinese New Year is distinguished by one of the 12 animals in the Chinese Zodiac which is divided in 12 Houses just like its western counterpart. Nonetheless, the most important difference is that each House is one year long instead of one month long.

This year is the Year of the Rooster, the 10th animal in the cycle, next one will be in 2029.... Let's celebrate now as 2029 seams so far away!

People who are born during the year of the Rooster are usually known for being: honest, independent, energetic, intelligent, punctual yet emotionally volatile.

They are characterised for being always hardworking and resourceful, confident and very talented. They have a gift with words and they can engage very well which makes them very popular. However, despite their numerous skills, they still have several flaws like being vain and arrogant.

Famous people who were born under the rooster sign are: Prince Philip, Benjamin Franklin, Nancy Regan, Joan Collins, Roger Federer and Michelle Pfeiffer.

Let’s get a bit extravagant ..... Get inspired - my fellow Roosters - with the creation of your unique and very special piece of jewellery ... a rooster brooch encrusted with diamonds and precious gems.

There is never a better way to celebrate than with a sparking little yet precious jewel!

新年好 / 新年好
